A Love Note To My Students

Instead of quoting the great gurus of yoga or plunking down lines from poets, this week I prefer to speak from my own heart.

Much of my work requires seeing beyond clothing and skin to sense the coordination of muscles and bones along with the movement of the breath. I spend my days seeing the layers of the human body; physical, mental, and emotional.

Without a lot of fancy words or explanations, I want you to know that I see you. And even if your inner dialogue doesn't reflect how beautiful you are, I see that you are beautiful. Even if you feel that you are not doing enough or being enough, you are and I see how much you have to offer.

You are not behind if you miss class or have been away from your mat. In yoga practice being ahead or behind does not exist. You land where you are and go from there.

And here is my best advice.

Be brave. Dive in to your practice; the water is warm and the experience, while at times challenging, is spectacular. Ask the questions that take you deeper. Listen to your breath. Soften the core of your belly, relax the space around your heart, and acknowledge the sweet vibration of goodness in every cell of your body.

Namaste,

Kathryn
